What is “True Health”…

I debated what my first blog should be, and I decided to go over what I mean by “True Health.”  A lot of times we think of health in terms of disease states and physician measured lab values.  I hear things like “I don’t have diabetes” or “my doctor said my cholesterol is good.”  While these are very good , these are symptoms (or conditions) and not causes.  As you can see by the image below, it’s like a tree.  Symptoms or disease conditions are the branches and causes or clinical imbalances are the roots.  Each branch represents a different symptoms or condition, such as constipation or depression.  If you were to just treat the symptoms you may take some form of medication, such as a laxative or antidepressant, respectively.  However, there is a root or reason for these conditions/symptoms, and these roots may include 1 or more of the following:

►   Digestive imbalances

►   Hormonal imbalances (i.e. estrogen, testosterone, cortisol, insulin, thyroid hormones, to name a few)

►   Neurotransmitter imbalances

►   Poor detoxification

►   Immune imbalances

►   Inflammation

►   Blood glucose and insulin imbalance

►   Nutrient deficiencies

I’ll go into more detail about each of these in my future blogs.  But, just keep in mind that imbalances in different areas of our health can go on for years before a disease manifests.
